Simulación Circuit Lab – Parallel and series connection

  1. Go to circuit lab and create the following circuit:
– In parallel connection you connect the lamps side by side.

In parallel connection, the same voltage is applied to each bulb.

To test this characteristic, use the voltmeter:

Try measuring the voltage in different wires of the electric circuit:

In parallel connection, the electric current is the sum of the current across each bulb.

To test this characteristic, use the ampmeter:

  • If a light bulb burns out, the other still shine.
  • Much brighter light bulbs (high power)
  • High electricity consumption.

Series connection

In series connection you connect the lamps in a line.

The voltage acrosss the circuit is the sum of the voltages across each bulb. Test it with the voltmeter:

The electric current has the same size through all the bulbs. Test it with the ampmeter:
